I currently own an expensive carpet extractor, Mytee carpet extractor, and I live in a two story house. I have no complaints with my current carpet extractor but I hated lugging the machine up the stairs which is about a 75lbs unit. I purchased this item for the ease of bringing it up and down the stairs. Let's me tell you, coming from someone who currently uses a industrial carpet cleaner, this Hoover did the trick!
I was impressed with the suction. I recovered a good amount of solution I was using. I own air movers so as I did a section I would put an air mover there and before I was done with another section, the carpet in the first section was already dry. The air mover I got was the Lasko 4900 from Amazon for around $55 bucks. If you're into cleaning your carpets, air movers are the way to go. I used to use a box fan that was annoyingly loud on high and it took about 4 hours to dry my carpets. I never knew what I was missing with out an air mover. Also, they are great for circulation the air in the house, optimizing your air condition.
I loved the ability to use solution+water or water only. I learn from carpet cleaning, shampoo solution can remain in the carpet and actually dirty your carpet faster. I used water only and I extracted a good amount of shampoo in the carpet. Tank is small about 1.25 gallons but it's ok, so easy to refill and empty.
I was also impress with how the parts come apart easily to clean. Again from experience your unit will work if you clean it after every use of every other use. Took me no longer than 5 minutes to clean.
The brushes are great, better than the roller brush in other units, hair with tend to wrap around the roller, but not here. It will simply ball it up into a size of a marble. Simply just pick it up.
Also I will clean the brushes as well as it was easily removable. I used a fine tooth comb to take the fibers caught in the brush.
BTW the reason I bought this unit, my Bissell ProHeat 2x died. Hoover does it right!

We recently purchased this Hoover Power Scrub to replace the horrible Bissell carpet cleaner we mistakenly purchased after our original Hoover carpet cleaner succumbed to years of use. Compared to the Bissell, this cleaner is so much easier to use by leaps and bounds. Emptying the tank is a breeze, filling the water and detergent tanks is simple, and cleaning the unit is child's play. The Bissell carpet cleaner we purchased lasted less than a year, was difficult to clean, and was not user friendly! I got the impression that it was engineered by someone who never uses a carpet cleaner. Someone wrote in one of the reviews that they wet the carpet with the rinse setting before using detergent. I've found this method to work very well for us. The cleaner comes with a hose and several hand tools that do a great job on upholstery and vehicle carpets. I would highly recommend this product to others.
